As we celebrate the Easter season, we looked at Thomas and his encounter with the resurrected Christ. We learned that though Thomas is traditionally associated with doubt, we too can experience such doubts due to hardships and trials in life. Just as Christ met with Thomas in his distress, Easter is a reminder that Christ meets with us in our distress. The experience of Thomas also demonstrates how Christ does not reject us for our unbelief but rather confronts our disbelief with His truth. Ultimately, we celebrate Easter because it is Christ’s death and resurrection that confers our destiny, allowing us to spend eternity with God. The experience of Thomas with the resurrected Christ is a reminder of how God conquered the impossibilities of death in order to give us the assurance of eternal life.
