In this sermon, we looked at the request of the thief who hung on the cross beside Jesus (Luke 23:39-43). We learned that the thief’s request was simple; not full of jargon but clear from his heart. We also learned that his request was sincere; he spoke to Jesus in honesty knowing that while he deserved to be on the cross, Christ did not. Finally, we also learned that his request was spiritual; he wasn’t focused on his physical pain, but focused on his spiritual need. In the eyes of our Saviour, it was this kind of prayer that Christ listened to and changed the course of His destiny.
