Relativism continues to plague the evangelical church today by watering down the absolute truth of God by pleasing people to avoid conflict. Unfortunately, for evangelicals, the departure from understanding the sufficiency of scripture has led to the departure from understanding justification by faith alone. The Church is called to stand firm on this critically important doctrine that rightly divides truth from error. In Romans 3, Paul reminds us that there is nothing apart from faith in Jesus Christ that can save us. At the moment of salvation, we are declared righteous before a Holy God, not because of any good in us, but solely because of the righteousness and finished work of Jesus Christ. Many think they can earn their way to heaven with good works, but works are simply the fruit of our faith. When we put our faith in Christ alone for our salvation, we have received the message of the true Gospel.
