“Prone to wander, Lord I feel it. Prone to leave the God I love.” These lyrics from the famous hymn describe the internal struggle of the believer’s heart. With the many distractions and lies of the world, we can sometimes feel as if we are drifting away from the truths of God. Some go as far as falling away and leaving the faith.  In this standalone sermon, we address apostasy and how to respond when someone leaves the faith. We also discuss how to safeguard the truth of Scripture in our own lives so that when we find ourselves discouraged we don’t fall away. Ultimately, the assurance of the believer is that the Holy Spirit seals the Church for the day of Jesus Christ, and that He will faithfully complete the work in us. This is the joyful reminder that regardless of how far our hearts wander off, God will still save His church.
