As expressive beings created by God, we depend on communication as our outlet. One significant way we do this is of course through our speech. The implications for it as a vehicle for sharing the gospel is significant. The human tongue is a powerful yet dangerous tool that is exceedingly difficult to control. Too often enough do we yield to its control instead of yielding to the Holy Spirit to control it. As Christians, we are commanded to control the tongue and keep it from evil so that our speech would be honouring to the Lord. When we praise Him, we are to think twice before cursing another with the same breath. The Spirit moves us to maturity in Christ, to live a life that would glorify Him. No longer should we excuse our sinful habits of loose speech but live empowered by the change Christ has made in our hearts to walk in Him victoriously.
