Hi everyone! I feel so blessed to say that I am planning to head to Cambodia this January on a missions trip. It has been quite the journey leading up to this, however I am reminded again of how God’s timing is always perfect. I’m grateful to all of you who have walked with me and have agreed to support me through prayer during the course of my time there. The trip will consist primarily of installing water filters in the villages and schools. The organization I will be joining with is called Samaritan’s Purse and they have made it their mission to help all citizens in Oddar Meanchey, Cambodia to have access to clean drinking water. The hope is to install a system that will last long after we have left that they can utilize for the future. We will also be learning about sex trafficking and how to prevent it from happening in various countries, specifically in Cambodia. Finally, there will be opportunity to do an after school bible program for the children in the village.
"Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke?"
As I was doing my evening devotion recently, I came across this verse. Isaiah 58:6-8 reads “Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter—when you see the naked, to clothe them, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear then your righteousness[a] will go before you, and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard.”
Before reading this verse I was experiencing fear and uncertainty, however, through God’s word I was met again with the passion He instilled in me to serve on the missions field, whether that be locally or globally. I’m thankful to have this opportunity to serve on behalf of my church and couldn’t be more excited to see God move in Cambodia.
