As we began the New Year, Pastor Christopher Chung came and reminded us how to pray from the example of Christ’s prayer given to his disciples. We were reminded to recall who it is we pray to as believers—a Holy God who is our Heavenly Father. We were also challenged to examine what our petitions are about; is our sole focus on personal matters or do we recall the holiness of God and His kingdom in this world. Finally, we were reminded that our prayers ought to be wholly dependent on God not just for our physical needs but our moral and spiritual needs as well. Prayer is a necessity to the survivability of the believer and must be done with a heart of reverence and genuine gratitude.
