In a world with many temptations, and a flesh that is so prone to wander, how can believers ensure that they succeed in their battles with sin? Through accountability. In this standalone sermon, Pastor Ian talked about one of the greatest tools that God has blessed His church with in the fight against the flesh: accountability through community. In this sermon we learned that humility is the posture of accountability; only when we have humbled ourselves and sought the help of others can we truly begin to find help. We also learned that if we want to overcome temptation we must adopt godly practices; it’s not enough to simply stop practicing the things of the world, we must practice the things of God. Ultimately, accountability is about prevention through community and transparency. We don’t need to fight our battles alone, and praise be to God that He saved us into a family that will stand with us in our struggles with sin.
